Wooten Center

About us:

The Making Choices Mentorship Program launched its first sessions at the Al Wooten Jr. Youth Center in South Los Angeles in January 2025. Thanks to the generous support of the center and the Foster Grandparent Program, the girls began building meaningful connections with our staff and strengthening their bonds with one another through conversations and activities designed to expand their personal resources and support networks. Since launching, we’ve offered a variety of enriching experiences, including hair-braiding workshops, entrepreneurship activities, and opportunities to cultivate lasting friendships throughout their girlhood journeys.

This season, our programming has centered on self-discovery and personal development. For an entire month, we hosted workshops focused on helping participants envision their futures, prepare for the workforce, and plan for life after graduation. As we approach the holiday season, we’ll continue exploring themes of self-reflection, the power of choice, and gratitude as we guide the girls toward a strong and confident end to the year. Stay tuned as we continue to share our progress throughout the academic year! To learn more about the Al Wooten Center visit their website at: https://www.wootencenter.org/
